Student Admission
Notice
Students will be
accepted on a priority basis according to their Fire
Department or EMS System affiliation
-
Active members
of a fire department or government-based EMS system will
be given priority admission consideration
-
Non fire
department applicants, those affiliated with a private
EMS or ambulance company and others may be accepted on a
"space available" basis

Possess a current
certificate to practice as a first responder or EMT or a
license to practice as a registered nurse
-
Have at least 5 years of
experience as a first responder, EMT or registered nurse
in the preceding seven years
-
Pass a written exam that
demonstrates a level of knowledge in emergency medical
services consistent with the individuals certificate to
practice – registered nurse must pass a paramedic level
exam
-
Pass a practical exam for
their level of certification.

Curricula Requirements

50 hours in instruction of
adult students and basic teaching techniques

8 hours in instruction
specific to the field of study (EMS)

10 hours of supervised
teaching

2 hours toward completion of
the techniques exam
